BABES
Reaching Out!
Hello, BABES!
As the new Outreach Coordinator, I have been very
excited about getting out in the community to bring HIV awareness to the
public, as well as making sure those who are already infected know what
services are available to them here at BABES.
Reaching out to incarcerated HIV positive women
has been one of my first tasks as BABES Outreach Coordinator. This is something
that I am very passionate about, and I look forward to the opportunity to work
more with this population.
Getting connected with youth is also something we
are excited about here. So far we have had speaking engagements with two local
high schools, Chief Sealth and Ballard High.
BABES Peer Counselors also have spoken to health
care providers and students who are studying to be in the health care field.
My next goals are to get connected with HIV
positive people who are in drug/alcohol treatment centers and reach out to
women who are living in shelters.
We have some exciting speaking engagements lined
up for the next few months. This is such important work, and I feel very lucky
to be a part of it! Stay tuned for more outreach updates!

¡La Esquina de Kelly!
¿BABES haciendo
conexiones?
Hola BABES!
Como coordinadora de
Conexiones, he estado muy emocionada por visitar la comunidad y brindar
conciencia al público sobre el VIH, así como para asegurarme de
que aquellas personas infectadas sepan de los servicios que están
disponibles para ellas, aquí en las BABES.
Tendiendo la mano a las
mujeres encarceladas VIH positivo ha sido una de mis primeras actividades como
Coordinadora de Conexiones de las BABES. Esto es algo de lo que estoy muy
apasionada y busco oportunidades futuras para trabajar con esta
población.
Estar conectada con
jóvenes también es algo que me estimula aquí. Hasta ahora,
hemos tenido pláticas de compromiso con dos escuelas secundarias
locales, Chief Sealth y Ballard High.
Las consejeras de las BABES
también han hablado a proveedores del cuidado de la salud y a
estudiantes que están preparándose en el campo del cuidado de la
salud.
Mis próximos
objetivos son conectarme con gente VIH positivo que están en centros de
tratamiento para drogas/alcohol y también alcanzar a mujeres que
están viviendo en albergues.
Tenemos una fila de
compromisos muy interesantes para dar pláticas en los próximos
meses. Este es un trabajo muy importante, y ¡me siento con mucha suerte
por ser parte de él! ¡Manténganse en sintonía para
actualizarse sobre nuestras conexiones!
