Letters from Retreat

If excursions and the idea of getting away from normal life sounds enjoyable then imagine how exciting the concept of being offered four days and three nights at the beach in a cabin sounds. I have lived for eight years in solitude with HIV and never in my wildest dreams thought that I would ever see a vacation let alone be given one free and then to be catered to the whole time.

For me, my daily life is consumed with conversations with my three year old granddaughter and a moment or two from a passing neighbor.

I received a Babes Talking newsletter from PCAF (Pierce County AIDS Foundation); that had a flier in it about the retreat at Marrowstone. I just want to say that those three days empowered me to be able to come home and face my mundane existence and actually reach out to some new people and make friends. I look forward to future retreats and give much appreciation to all those that contributed and participated.

On July 9th my sixteen year old son and I were reunited and he now lives with me; I now have the courage and the reassurance that I can make it through this and that I am not alone. Thanks.

I hope to see everyone next year and I am working on putting together some supplies to do tie-dying next year!!!

PEACE be with each of you through out the coming year and together we can overcome anything!!!

~Shelley

~Shelley
