What feeds my soul?
by Mindy

I guess what feeds my soul is all the accomplishments I have made on my own in my life.

What I mean by that is I never really had too much to look forward to growing up. I had an abusive family, alcoholism, drugs and mental abuse to deal with, but even after getting kicked out at 13 and having to live on my own not knowing too much, I still managed to get through all of it.

So it feeds my soul and keeps me going everyday knowing that, after going through all that and even more, I still manage to keep on going.

Feeding my soul?
by Tonya

I can't remember when my soul wasn't being fed. It may have been the fragrant smell of my mother's sweet potato pie, or the tangy, well-seasoned collard and mustard greens mixed at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have to say that I always got caught with my fingers in the pot.

Food in my family, like in other families, was a way to bring everyone together and talk about new endeavors or old adventures.

It is an honor in my family to be able to pass down recipes to the younger generations so the family tradition of memorable meals will live on forever.

I am anxious as a mother to be able to share these meals with my daughters. And as the years go by everyone has a chance to add their own ingredients, so that their meal is unique in its
