someone. But getting things out in the open is the best way. Even if you have trouble at first asking for what you need, don't give up. Keep trying to put yourself and your safety first.

BABES WALK!
by Pat

It's that time of year again! The 18th annual AIDS WALK will be held on Sunday September 26, 2004.

I am a veteran of all 17 AIDS WALKS. I remember the excitement of the first walk in 1987. It was amazing to see so many people come together to support people with HIV/AIDS. I walked with my husband Bob, other PWAs and friends to raise money and awareness of the AIDS crisis. By the second walk, Bob was in a wheelchair. By the third walk, he had died.

Several years ago I was honored to be the PLWA speaker at the opening ceremonies. It was an awesome thing to be able to tell 10,000 people what the WALK means to be. The AIDS WALK means unity, community and hope for all of us infected or affected by HIV.The WALK is also a memorial to all those friends we have lost due to this disease.

The AIDS WALK rises critically needed funds for Lifelong AIDS Alliance to provide services. I know how important Lifelong programs such as, case management, the food program and emergency grants are to me.

This year, the BABES Network is one of the beneficial agencies of the WALK. That means that BABES Network will receive $.65 for every $1.00 our team raises. We need your help! Please sign up to be on the BABES team. Ask for pledges from your family, co-workers, Minister, neighbors, doctors, nurses, hairdresser, everyone you know (and people you do not know). You will be surprised at how many people want to donate and haven't been asked yet. As you ask for pledges (and collect them,) remember that you are giving people an opportunity to support the services you get at BABES and Lifelong.

¡CAMINEMOS!
by Pat

Pida donativos a tu
