Pat Migliore
Teacher, friend, supporter, Volunteer Extraordinaire

On behalf of the staff of BABES, I would like to recognize Pat Migliore for her outstanding commitment to BABES members and staff. Pat has been an essential part of BABES since its beginning, way back in the late ’80s. Pat’s numerous contributions have supported BABES in every area. They include: support group facilitator, fundraiser, staff trainer and consultant, newsletter folder, former Board President and current Advisory Committee member, educational workshop leader and HOPE project speaker … to name just a few! Above all, Pat has been a consistent source of humor, inspiration, guidance and friendship for BABES staff over the years. Thank you, Pat, for all of your important contributions to BABES. Because of you, we’re still here!

Beat the Heat!
Tips for staying cool this summer

Block the sun: Close your curtains and blinds the heat that passes through your windows.
Make your own air-conditioner: Place a shallow bowl of ice in front of a fan and enjoy the breeze.

Consider closing your windows: Whenever the outside air is hotter than the inside air, opening a window just invites the hot air to creep in.

Open your windows at night: Place a fan near your window at night to pull cooler air in. Face the fan pointing out the window and it will blow hot air pout and suck cool air in.

Dress right: Wear synthetic fabrics that keep you dry.

Wear Sandals: They allow your feet to breathe.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER! Replacing fluids is essential to keeping cool. Avoid beverages with alcohol, caffeine or lots of sugar, because they are dehydrating.

Shut off the lights!

Make a cold compress: Fill a sock with rice and freeze it for two hours before bedtime. It will stay cold for a long period of time!

Go somewhere air-conditioned: The library and other public buildings have air conditioning. Find a comfortable seat and read a book!
