What’s Happening at BABES?

In August we had our Annual BABES Picnic, which was as always a ton of fun! We had over 80 BABES and families that attended this year; it was so nice to spend time with the BABES and get to meet some of their family members. The kids enjoyed whacking at the Piñata, jumping in the huge Dinosaur bouncer and talking about their upcoming Rise n’ Shine camping trip. We hope that next year even more BABES and their families will be able to attend...
In August we also had a premier viewing of our very own Positive Dreams ~ Weaving Stories of our Sisterhood! It was really fun to be able to see the entire show, especially because the BABES participating had to be back stage during the performances. We ROCKED!! For those of you who missed the show and are interested in buying a copy of the DVD, we are selling them for $10. Please get in touch with a BABES staff member at 206.720.5566 for more details.

HOPE

As promised in last month’s newsletter, HOPE Project speaker trainings will be resuming soon. BABES staff have been extremely busy over the last few months, so we apologize for the delay and assure you that we have not forgot about all of you who have attended the last two trainings. Our next training is scheduled for Wednesday, September 12th from 12-3pm. We will be meeting at our Fifth & Seneca location (1118 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101) on the second floor in Room 203. Be expecting a phone call from me soon to catch up and to remind you of the upcoming training. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Volunteer Spotlight
Jessica Weiss
Volunteer Massage Therapist, Advocate and more!
For the past year, Jessica has been an avid supporter of BABES. She began providing free massages to BABES members over a year ago, and she continues to donate her wonderful skills. Jessica volunteered at this year’s retreat, providing massages to 12 women and teaching a popular workshop on how to give a massage. Upon getting to know Jessica, it becomes clear that she is also an advocate for positive change. She attended AIDS Action Day in Olympia this year, campaigned for teaching evidence-based sex education in schools, and on top of all that she is a mother of three! Thank you, Jessica, for your inspiring commitment to women living with HIV!

Qué está pasando en las BABES?

En agosto tuvimos nuestro Picnic Anual de las BABES, y como siempre ¡fue una tonelada de diversión! Este año tuvimos a 80 BABES y sus familias; fue bonito pasar tiempo con las BABES y conocer a algunos de sus familiares. Los niños disfrutaron pegándole a la piñata, saltando en el gran dinosaurio para rebotar y hablando de nuestro próximo campamento Rise n’ Shine (Levantarse y Brillar). Esperamos que el próximo año aún muchas más BABES y sus familias puedan asistir…
En agosto también tuvimos el estreno de nuestros ¡Sueños Positivos ~ Tejiendo historias de nuestra hermandad! Fue muy divertido ver toda la presentación, especialmente para las BABES participantes que tenían que estar detrás el escenario durante la presentación. Para los que se perdieron esta presentación y están interesados en comprar una copia del DVD, la estamos vendiendo a $10. Como lo prometimos en el boletín del mes pasado, el Proyecto HOPE de entrenamiento para conferencistas se re-iniciará muy pronto. El personal de las BABES ha estado muy ocupado en los últimos meses, así es que nos disculpamos por la demora y les aseguramos que no nos hemos olvidado de todos ustedes que han asistido a los últimos dos entrenamientos. Nuestro próximo entrenamiento está programado para el miércoles 12 de septiembre de 12 a 3 pm. Nos reuniremos en nuestro local de Fifth & Seneca (1118 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101), en el salón 203 del segundo piso. Voluntaria como terapeuta del masaje, abogada positiva y más!
Por el año pasado, Jessica ha sido una partidaria ávido de BABES. Ella empezó a proveer los masajes gratis a miembros de BABES hace más de un año, y ella continúa donar sus habilidades maravillosas. Jessica se ofreció en el retirode BABES este año, proporcionando los masajes a 12 mujeres y enseñando un taller popular en cómo dar un masaje. A conocer a Jessica, se aclara que ella es también una abogada para el cambio positivo. Ella asistió Día de Acción de SIDA en Olympia este año, hecho campaña para enseñar la educación sexual evidencia-basó en escuelas, y encima de todo ella es una madre de tres! ¡Gracias, Jessica, para su compromiso inspirandoa mujeres que viven con VIH!
