HIV/AIDS Resource Center for Women

The Well Project
The Well Project, Inc., a Not For Profit Corporation, is an initiative conceived, developed, and administered by HIV+ women and those who are affected by this disease. The Well Project’s mission is to change the course of this HIV/AIDS pandemic through a unique and comprehensive focus on women. Their website is a great resource for HIV info relating to women.

AIDS activist Mary Fisher became known to many Americans at the 1992 Republican National Convention, during which she told attendees she was HIV-positive. Fisher has been active in the campaign to battle HIV/AIDS and participated in events to mark International Women’s Day in Washington, D.C., on March 8. Kaiser Family Foundation vice president Jackie Judd interviews Fisher.

The Office on Women's Health - US Department of Health and Human Services: HIV/AIDS in Women
Long considered a man’s disease, HIV/AIDS is a rapidly growing public health problem among women. HIV/AIDS remains among the leading causes of death for U.S. women ages 25-44. The National Womens Health Information Institute

The National Women's Health Information Center (NWHIC) provides information to women and links to helpful resources.

An on-line community connecting HIV-positive people with each other and the healthcare community. We also provide a separate community for family and friends of those affected by HIV.

The Center for Positive Connections (North Miami, FL)
The Center for Positive Connections is a non-profit 501-C(3) community based organization that is run for those infected and affected by chronic illness our community. Our mission is to provide educational, emotional, holistic and social support to ALL individuals living with HIV/AIDS, with emphasis on heterosexuals , the newly diagnosed & their family & friends.

AIDS Community Research Initiative of America (ACRIA)
ACRIA is an HIV research and treatment education organization with national reach. We publish several widely used topic specific HIV treatment education brochures (Clinical Trials Explained, Managing Drug Side Effects, Treatment Issues for Women, Understanding Your Lab Results, and Viral Hepatitis and HIV) as well as a quarterly treatment education newsletter called ACRIA Update. All of our publications are provided free to people living with HIV and nonprofits via mail and are available online.

HIV and HEPATITIS.COM
Ronald Baker is the founder of HIV and Hepatitis.com and currently serves as publisher and editor-in-chief of the web site. With more than 15 years experience in publishing, community education, and HIV treatment advocacy, Dr. Baker has written and edited more than 200 articles on HIV/AIDS treatment research and treatment advocacy issues.

Lifelong AIDS Alliance
Lifelong provides housing and home chores, food and nutrition services, insurance continuation, transportation, case management, and emergency financial assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Dunshee House
Dunshee House, a non-profit organization, builds community and cultivates powerful, healthy lives by providing emotional support and personal development services to those affected by HIV/AIDS, the Queer communities, and those who love them. Our work is done in a spirit of safety, trust, inclusiveness, and celebration of individual differences.

Multifaith
Multifaith Works unites communities of compassionate care and inclusive spirituality with people living in isolation and loneliness.  Shanti offers one-to-one emotional support to people living with HIV/AIDS or other life-threatening illnesses by providing active, non-judgmental listening and a comforting, sustaining relationship. The AIDS CareTeam Program offers friendship and practical support to individuals and households living with AIDS. Multifaith Housing Program provides supportive low-income housing to people living with AIDS and MS.
